
"I'm already in chorus/theatre/photography/art/etc, will I be able to be in band too?"
Yes! Students can have 4 electives aside from their 4 CORE classes (science, math, language arts, social studies). As long as the student has space, or is able to switch something out for band, they are more than welcome to be in more than one fine art or extracurricular and express their several talents!
"What is a 'clinic'?"
A musical clinic is an informal meeting with a guest musician, where a small-to-medium-sized audience questions the musician's styles and techniques and also how to improve their own skill. The musician might perform an entire piece, or demonstrate certain techniques for the audience to observe.

"I can't pay the full payment all at once right now, can I pay in installments?"
Of course! We understand that students may not be able to pay dues with the full amount all in one time. Any payment, even just five dollars, can help fund the band and get the student what they need for the class/marching band.
"What is 'All-State Band'?"
A select group of musicians advances to compete against musicians from other regions in their area. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the area competitions qualify to perform in one of All-State Bands, Orchestras, and Choirs. These All-State ensembles rehearse for multiple days and are often directed by nationally renowned directors.

"Why are the weekly rehearsals for stage-performing ensembles put in as a grade?
Every student's attendance is vital in order to have a full sounding group in anything we do. Things that are put in as a grade may include class participation, concert attendance with the correct concert attire and participation, after-school rehearsals, and clinics. Concert and Symphonic band are CO-curricular, meaning that all concert band and symphonic band activities are connected to the class.
"What are the dues paying for?"

"What can I do as a parent to take part in the HHS band family?"
Parents are welcome to come support their child at every event- concerts, games, parades, etc. Parents are also encouraged to join the band booster, helping to raise and manage money in order to fund the band. Lastly, parents are asked to attend the band parent meetings once a month for discussions, updates, and future events (available on team meetings and in person).
